How to Remove Heartbeat Events for Removed DataCollectors

Applies To

  • Zenoss 4.x
  • Zenoss 5.x

Summary

In Zenoss Resource Manager, heartbeats from associated devices such as data collectors are monitored. If the collector heartbeats are not detected, a heartbeat failure event is generated in the event console to indicate the device is no longer available. In some cases, although the collector has been removed, decomissioned or moved, Zenoss Resource Manager continues to monitor it for heartbeats and generates events when it is not detected. This KB describes how to remove heartbeat failure events for removed devices.

Note: This process is a good first step in troubleshooting unexpected heartbeat failure events.

Procedure

To remove heartbeat events for removed devices such as collectors, perform the following:

  1. From within the Resource manager UI, Navigate to:
    ADVANCED → EVENTS
  2. Scroll to the bottom of the page.
  3. Select Clear Heartbeat Events.
