How to setup a filter for SNMP Traps at the collector level (zentrap) in Resource Manager 5.1.1

Summary

 The following procedure explains how to setup SNMP filter traps using zentrap at the collector level.

Procedure

To enable and configure zentrap SNMP traps on the collector:

  1. From within the Control Center UI, edit the zentrap
    /opt/zenoss/etc/zentrap.conf configuration file:
    1. Click Zenoss.resmgr to display the Zenoss.res manager page.

    2. Scroll down the page to zentrap.

    3. Click zentrap to display the zentrap page.

    4. Scroll down to the  /opt/zenoss/etc/zentrap.conf file.
    5. Click Edit to launch the editor pane.

    6. Edit the file to enable the zentrap filter. Uncomment the line (remove the #) :
      trapFilterFile zentrap.filter.conf

    7. Click Save to save the changes, exit the file and close the editor dialog.

  2. From within the Control Center UI, edit the
    /opt/zenoss/etc/zentrap.filter.conf file to define appropriate filter criteria:
    1. Scroll down to the /opt/zenoss/etc/zentrap.filter.conf file.
    2. Click Edit to launch the editor pane.
    3. Edit the file to enable/define appropriate filter criteria. Uncomment a line to enable that definition (remove the #).
    4. Click Save to save the changes, exit the file and close the editor dialog.
  3. Restart zentrap:
    1. From within the Control Center UI, Click Zenoss.resmgr to display the Zenoss.res manager page.
    2. Scroll down the page to find zentrap.
    3. Click the Restart icon.
